Have Yourself a Merry Ayala Christmas

2018/11/14

The most wonderful time of the year came early at the Ayala center of Makati with its light installations already up and running, bringing Christmas cheer. With the hectic season of holiday gift-shopping and reunions kicking in, Filipinos and foreigners alike now have more reasons to flock to this already-busy business district at nighttime. The following festivities also marks Ayala Land's 30th anniversary.

Festival of Lights at the Ayala Triangle Gardens
Relive your enchanting childhood as this urban park in the middle of towering buildings showcases the Disney-themed “Reimagine The Magic: A Festival of Lights.” A huge Mickey Mouse-shaped structure sits in the middle of the courtyard while around it, a lights show by Voltaire de Jesus dances to the beat of a medley of well-loved Disney soundtracks arranged by former Hong Kong Disneyland musical director Rony Fortich.

“Reimagine The Magic: A Festival of Lights” runs every 30 minutes from 6pm to 10pm until January 8, 2019. Six Ayala Land estates all over the country will feature the same set-up and show starting on these dates: Ayala Malls Centrio, Cagayan de Oro on November 9; Ayala Center Cebu on November 10; Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City on November 15; Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna on November 24; and Vertis North, Quezon City on November 29.

Makati Christmas Street Lighting along Ayala Avenue
Filipino Christmas traditions like Simbang Gabi (nine dawn masses before Christmas) and Misa de Gallo (mass on the midnight of Christmas Eve) emphasize the importance of the church and the community. With this in mind, Ayala Land illuminates the stretch of Ayala Avenue with light installations in the shape of the Philippines’ most iconic churches: Sanctuario de San Antonio Church in Makati; San Miguel Archangel Parish in Cebu; Molo Church in Iloilo; Immaculate Conception Church in Jasaan, Northern Mindanao; and San Sebastian Church in Manila.

Meanwhile, in between the altars are totem poles with the symbols listed in the the 12 Days of Christmas Song such as rings, birds, french hens, and turtle doves, as well as trees wrapped in capiz decorations. Interior designer and event stylist Zenas Pineda crafted the entire installation. People can witness the spectacle when the heart of the city comes alive also from 6pm to 10pm until January 8, 2019.
