Perhaps a decade ago, Manila would be the last place to look at for sustainable real estate. But now, things have changed as these cities are now engaging in world-class projects with green credentials that lead the way in keeping things environmentally friendly.
In Metro Manila, Taguig-based ArthaLand has pioneered the way in marrying sustainable credentials with cutting-edge architecture. ArthaLand has made a name for itself in the Philippine market by exclusively focusing on developments that stand by global and national standards in green buildings.
Following their advertising tagline, “Green is the new luxury,” ArthaLand has been the only development in the Philippines to have received the prestigious gold certification in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.
The Arya Residences’ construction at Bonifacio Global City is a national milestone for its high-end design and eco-friendly features. Arya Residences’ unique construction allows for it to naturally channel the breeze, as well as its balconies and ledges providing shade to its units. Its interior is also decorated using paints and resins with low volatile organic emissions. Moreover, built-in fixtures and appliances of the development use advanced technology to reduce environmental impact and usage cost.
In 2018, ArthaLand was awarded the “Special Recognition in Sustainable Development” at the PropertyGuru Philippine Property Awards, as well as the “Best Green Feature Development” of the Japan International Property Awards (JIPA).
ArthaLand is continuing its mission of providing green development by partnering with Lopez-led First Gen Corp, the country’s leading clean and renewable energy producer, to supply renewable energy to its office project, the ArthaLand Century Pacific Tower (ACPT). ACPT uses 100% clean and renewable energy through First Gen’s hydroelectric power plant from the Pantabangan-Masiway Hydroelectric Plant in Nueva Ecija.
ArthaLand also has Cebu Exchange, their flagship project outside Metro Manila. Cebu Exchange is an P8-million, Grade-A green office development that is designed to address the IT and business outsourcing (BPO) industry’s growing demand for quality space. The green office building will allow occupants to make energy and recycling waste a priority.
Angie de Villa-Lacson, ArthaLand president and CEO, shares, “standardizing green measures is a major step in encouraging developers to take sustainability seriously.” This ripple effect of sustainable architecture affects not only residents but also the property sector.
